DESCRIPTION: Tall growing annual with dark red flowers with almost black centres, streaked with paler shades. Plant as a border or mass plant for a spectacular display of flowering colour. RHS Award of Garden Merit
PLANTING: Autumn-winter, and spring in cooler climates. Sow directly into garden beds or seed raising mix, apply a thin layer of soil, gently pat the soil down and keep moist. Transplant to a full sun location in free draining soil when plants are easily handled.
CARE: Water seedlings regularly until established. Prefers dry conditions once established. Leave the seedheads on for a second season of interest. Add a slow release fertiliser on planting for best results.
